Joseph Needham, Science and Civilisation in China

Joseph Needham directly supervised the printing of seventeen volumes of some twenty-five planned, in the Science and Civilisation in China series (Cambridge University Press). Volume I, Introductory Orientations, appeared in 1954, while Volume 6.3, Biology and Biological Technology, Part 6 Medicine was in press at the time of his death in 1995.
